“The Passing” Release and Event

“The Passing” is released today, bringing a new campaign to the series and linking both games together. New campaign, new types of infected, new weapons… There’s a lot of good stuff in this free content update!
To celebrate, this weekend (saturday or sunday), we’ll be having a Left 4 Dead 2 event in which we do the new content. Further details are, as usual, on the Micro Mart forums.  Link

Midnight Riders!

Found two Midnight Riders songs on YouTube, and decided to share them.

There’s others floating around, too.

Left 4 Dead Rap!

Now, it’s not often I listen to stuff like this, but Machinima tends to have a fairly high quality of fan-videos so I decided to check it out. During Zoey’s part and towards the end it’s not as good, but it starts off pretty good.

Enjoy!

A few updates!

I’ve spent a short amount of time playing around with WordPress, and these are the updates to the blog:

1. Relevant links in the sidebar (under ‘Blogroll’, which I’m trying to change).

2. The ‘About’ page has been updated, but isn’t complete.

3. New theme (not sure about it, however).

More updates coming soon…

Left 4 Speed 1 + 2

These are pretty funny, if not a bit immature. Caution: Strong Language, Sex References and Mild Violence (Left 4 Speed 2 has a slightly disturbing scene with a Spitter).

Left 4 Dead 1 Tips!

I’ve not played Left 4 Dead 2 enough to really give any, so here’s my Left 4 Dead 1 list of tips. Some of these are from the Official Prima guide to the game.

1. Never stray too far from your team, especially if you can hear a Hunter. It can do a lot of damage in a short time, and your team mates may not be able to save you in time.

2. Never run backwards from a leaping Hunter, always strafe. Hunters jump in a straight line, so strafing gives you a better chance of evasion.

3. Always pick up the second pistol. There is no reason not to.

4. If you, or the whole team, end up covered in Boomer Bile, throw a pipe bomb if you have one. It takes priority over the bile, and will help you survive the impending horde.

5. The assault rifle is the best choice as a general use firearm, as it is adaptable to most situations. Either shotgun is preferable for close-combat, whereas the hunting rifle excels at long range.

6. If you’re the person who pushes forward, either shotgun is the preferable weapon.  They kill Witches very easily and do a lot of damage against a tank, but the further away you are from your target the worse they become.

7. If you prefer to stay ranged, use the Assault Rifle or the Sniper.

8. You can melee whilst reloading and it will not ‘pause’ the act of reloading.

9. Crouching improves your accuracy a lot, especially with the Assault Rifle and Pistol(s). You can take out whole groups by firing shots at range.

10. Your choice of character has no bearing on gameplay. Francis cannot take more damage than Zoey, for example.

11. A good priority for killing Special Infected would be: Boomer (ranged) > Hunter > Smoker > Boomer (melee).

12. Startle as few Witches as possible, unless you have sniper rifles and shotguns.

13. If you are equipped with a shotgun, use your pistol(s) for ranged attacks.

14. Try to save Molotovs for Witches and Tanks. For the most part, the pipe bomb is a preferable tool to get rid of common Infected.

Important: Clan Rules

These aren’t anything to worry about, so don’t fret.

1. Don’t act like a fool.

2. Play as a team as best you can.

3. Don’t be rude to others in-game; calmly give any criticism later.

4. Don’t abuse your server privileges.

5. Remember that not everyone maybe as good as you are at the game; make allowances for errors and lesser performance. You were a newb once, too!
